New Mindset Worked today

I organised to walk around Lake Monger this afternoon with Helen M, one of the Perth Crew Lovelies. We set the time for 5pm but I finished work early...dilemna!! not wanting to hang around longer at work and home being in the opposite direction, the old me would have cancelled the walk.

New me took the opportunity to get there early planning to run a 4km lap first before the walk. Well I did do a 4km loop but unfortunately my DOMS from Jacobs Ladder yesterday didnt want me to run!! After 500m and some serious cramping I decided to walk it and hopefully stretch out some soreness.

Helen turned up at 5 and we did another lap so 8km in total for me :) then we went to Leederville for coffee, I got a decaf so i can sleep tonight lol. Buggers used full cream milk so i only had half of it, was way to rich for me! Sitting at the coffee shop talking and people watching I couldnt help but smile at how wonderful my life is :)

2012 off to a fabulous start

WOW 3 days in to the New Year and I already have heaps to share!

New Years Eve we celebrated the wedding of our close friends, I had a few drinks and I danced up a storm all night :) getting home at 3.30am I set my alarm knowing I had to be up at 7am for my first workout of the year. It was bloody hard but with my "Woman of Your Word" mantra pounding in my head I dragged myself out of bed and got ready to meet the wonderful Sarah (akaByclops). We had decided to not only start the year with a workout but to tackle something we hadnt done before so we hit the Kokoda Trail at Kings Park. We did 3 runs of those uneven stairs and walked up to Jacobs Ladder, did one round and then ran the last kilometre back to Kokoda to get a snap :) I couldnt resist a planking snap too, my gosh that was one skinny pole lol

Day 2 of 2012 saw Sarah and myself head up to the Northern suburbs for a group circuit workout with Sarah (of Sarah&Bernie fame), Amy, Helen, Lesley and Natalie. It was an awesome workout, I burnt 618 cals and got some great Ab DOMS to boot hehe (thanks Amy for suggesting the medicine ball sit ups)

The 3rd of Jan and its my niece Charlotte's 5th birthday :) we had a chat on the phone this morning, soooo cute! After work I met Sarah&Bernie and Natalie to tackle Jacobs Ladder. The girls had already done the DNA tower so they headed off after 5 repeats. I set myself the goal of 10, my previous best was 3! After 10 I thought, why am I stopping at 10, I can do another and so I did! Some nice looking fellas turned up as I was heading back up for 11 so I decided to do one more teehee and finished with a nice even 12 as in 2012 cool. Oh and the blurry photo is courtesy of sweat on my phone, need to find a better place than my bra hehehe

2012 and I still believe

The topic going at the moment is "if you could choose one word to capture the year ahead what would it be?" Mine is BELIEVE!

2011 was a fantastic year, I started to believe in myself, I could lose weight, i could run a half marathon, do a triathlon, fly on the high trapeze, rock climb. You name it I did it and all because I found a self belief that I could do anything.

I actually chose my 12wbt username as yes I love Tinkerbell. She's a fairy and I decided to be that fairy and believe in myself because "everytime someone stops believing, a fairy dies" I had stopped believing in myself and yes I felt dead. Anyway now that ive explained that, back to the topic.

Thinking about 2012 I thought...hmmmm what will my word be?? Consistency was a strong contender, I need consistency to achieve my goals but it didnt cut it. BELIEVE is still there very strongly in my mind so that is it folks, this year I will BELIEVE.

I believe I will reach my goal weight, I believe my body will tone and look super athletic, I believe I will run several half marathons, I believe I will try new experiences, I believe I will make more new friends and I believe 2012 will be even more awesome than the fanbloodytastic 2011!!!!

Indoor Rock Climbing is Awesome!!

Wow wow wow went to my second session of indoor rock climbing today and I officially love it!!!

The first climb was again a bit scary towards the top and I came down early but after that i was off and climbing. I tackled heaps of different walls and was so stoked to get up over an overhang bit. I had a nemesis wall from my last visit but unfortunately i got it on my last climb today and just didnt have the strength left to give it a good shot. Will start on that one next time.

Its such a fun activity and a really great workout, i love it!!!

What is Health??

WEEK 2 BLOGGING CHALLENGE

So this week we've been asked to write about what we think Health is, hmmm let me see.

Sure health can be measured, there's a BMI range, waist to hip ratio, waist measurement, blood tests - cholesterol, blood sugar etc, blood pressure and many many more but none of these pop into my head.

The first thing I picture when you say "health" is me running along the beach in a swimsuit, chasing my nieces in & out of the waves. The sun is shining, the water is cool, I feel alive and we are all happy and laughing.

Ive spent so many years in bad health that Ive realised it was a place of not being able to do things, of being unhappy and not participating in life and well being healthy is the opposite of that.

Being healthy to me is participating in life, its not being limited by the physical and being able to just do whatever I choose to do. Its about happiness and enjoying the company of others, its socialising, its getting outside and enjoying nature.

I still have a way to go until the measurements indicate health but truly I feel I already have it, its just going to get better :)

Food Food Food

ARGH I feel overwhelmed by food this week, its all around me!!

I flew to Melbourne on Friday for work to attend the Gluten Free Food Expo. We spent saturday and sunday looking at the markets and different food retailers. I LOVED IT, thats my job and I adore gourmet food but it set me off!

In Melbourne I was great, I had a Greek dessert in saturday night and shared a piece of cake on sunday. I went to the gym both mornings and we walked and walked and walked. I went to work today after being sick 2 days and there are samples all over my desk. I got a case of the sads because "Im not allowed to eat them" and I ate some of the chocolates :(

I was feeling overwhelmed and just wanted to binge so Ive been on the 12wbt facebook page and forums and chatted to some of the Perth Crew, Ive read over my goals and I have my strength back.

Sarah has been saying how much do you want it and my answer, like hers is

I WANT IT MORE THAN SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!

Round 3 Week 1

Wow a whole week has flown by already and its been a busy one!!

Ok its week 1 of 12wbt and the start of my 3rd round. I have huge goals this round with my primary focus being to get to goal which is going to require a focussed committed effort. I have the desire and determination Im just waiting to see what my body can do! Week one went fabulously, there was 2 extra days this week to get us to a regular wednesday weigh in day and i lost 4.3kg OMFG!!

I was busy getting back into a rhythm at work after 4 weeks holiday so worked some longer days but still managed to get all my training in. Ive realised organisation is really going to be a key factor for me this round, I have to stay on top of things!

Friday night was an awesome workout at Kimax with Perth Crew and I shared a bag with Sharon who is freaking amazing, she is super fit and just doesnt stop. Yes i took that as a challenge and tried to keep up the whole time, my face went purple and I maxed my HR at 192 oops but i had an awesome time. LOVE LOVE LOVE Kimax!

Saturday morning I was a motivational talk by Bob & Lara from the Biggest Loser. It was organised by some Perth Crew girls and was an inspiring morning, the committment and determination these people showed to smash it up and reach their goals is awe inspiring. I took home alot of great lessons from this session :)

Saturday night the Perth Crew theme continued with our end R2 welcome to R3 dinner. After dinner there was a presentation slideshow made by Andrea (legend) which highlighted some of the achievments of the round. It was also the announcement of the Perth Crew Inspiration club, members who have lost over 20kg and im proud to say im an inaugral member of the club having lost 33.8kg at the time.

There will be alot of mention of Perth Crew in this blog, they are pretty much the centre of my universe at the moment :)

Anyway thats all for tonight, Im off to Melbourne for the weekend for work so am busy getting everything ready for next week. I will update on how my weekend goes.
